STARS Youth Orchestra Students Win at Kiwanis Music Festival
Soo Theatre Arts Resource Studios (STARS) is pleased to announce that several members of the STARS Youth Orchestra were winners at the recent Kiwanis Music Festival held at Algoma Conservatory of Music.
In the Senior Division:
- Violinist Melanie Case received the Sault Symphony School of Music Award with a $100 prize. She also tied as the top string student and is invited to perform at the Shield Competition April 27. The Shield Competition features the all the division winners of the Kiwanis Festival.
- Violinist Benjamin Gulder was awarded the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority Scholarship with a $75 prize.
- The string quartet of Melanie Case, Anna Hirt, Cara VanDusen and Elizabeth Jacobus were awarded the Katherine Gartshore Memorial Scholarship for Chamber Music with a $50 prize.
- Violinist Sam Scott was awarded the Tony Dionisi Memorial Scholarship with a $50 prize.
- Violinist Josh Scott received the Hershey and High Notes Scholarship with a $30 prize.
Soo Theatre Arts Resource Studios (STARS) is a community arts center offering instruction in music, dance, theater, visual arts and yoga for students of all ages.
