One Night Only! Seussical Junior!

I can see that you’ve got quite a mind for your age!
Why, one Think and you dragged me right onto the stage!
Now, I’m here, there is no telling what may ensue
With a Cat such as me, and a Thinker like you!

So says the mischievous Cat in the Hat at the onset of this fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! The talented young actors from the STARS Musical Theatre Camp lovingly bring to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie and all of the Whos of Whoville!

These classic, colorful tales are seamlessly brought together by Jojo, a young boy and “thinker of strange and wonderful thinks!” As each story unfolds you will marvel at how relevant and profound Seuss’s subtle themes are; making this musical one that appeals to all ages.

The score emerges as a Seussian gumbo of musical styles, ranging from Latin to pop, swing to gospel, and R&B to funk! So let your toes tap, your fingers snap, and your imagination run wild, for...
If you open your mind,
Oh, the Thinks you will find
Lining up to get loose!
Oh, the Thinks you can think!
Oh, the Thinks you can think
When you think about Seuss!!

Don't miss this one-night-only performance at the Soo Theatre, Friday, July 20, at 7:00 p.m. Admission is $5 at the door. For more information, call (906) 632-1930.

Soo Theatre Project Presents All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten

The Soo Theatre Project is pleased to announce that All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten will be performed this weekend at the historic Soo Theatre. The production opens on Friday, July 6 at 7:30 p.m. and also plays on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Directed by Emily Couling, a 2007 graduate of Rudyard High School, Robert Fulgham's take on everyday life will have the audience laughing out loud.

The play stars Briana Kangas, Elizabeth Jacobus, Charles Rye, Alyssa Sexton, Samantha Tulgetske, and Stephan Winnicki.

From his best-selling book of short essays, in which he explains how the world would be improved if adults adhered to the basic rules that children learn in kindergarten, Fulgham has created a play of fast-moving skits.

"Kindergarten Creed" advises us to “hold hands when crossing the street” and to live "a balanced life" of work, play, and learning. "Stuff in the Sink" explains why it’s a lot easier to remain a child than to cross over into adulthood by reminding the audience of all the gross jobs adults have to do every day: clean the gunk out of the sink, empty the litter box, and many more.

"Mother of the Bride" will bring back a memory or two for anyone who ever planned the perfect wedding only to have it go awry. "Fear of Spiders" is another hilarious description of women’s fear of the eight-legged creatures and also of a spider’s fear of women.

This production was first presented as Black Box Theatre at Rudyard High School in May. Now the drama students of James Taylor, RHS drama instructor, show off their stuff on the Soo Theatre’s larger stage.
